Helen Hethy Mulvihill
is a long time resident of Lake Ronkonkoma.

Honored by Legislator Tom Murature as the Woman of Distinction 2013

Her extensive knowledge of local and historic homes does not come as a surprise, since her father was Walter Z. Hethy who owned the Walter Z. Hethy Real Estate & Insurance here in town for over 40 years.  Helen is by far the expert in this field and we are grateful for her knowledge.  Her Masters Degree was subsequently earned with the thesis "Quiet Lake to Distressed Area" and "Old Homes of Lake  Ronkonkoma".  She is currently working on two more books.

She is a former President of "Association of Suffolk County Historical Societies" and is currently an officer of  "The Suffolk County Historical Society".

Almost every Saturday you can find Helen at "The Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society Museum" where she meets with the public to answer questions they have about local history.

As an active member of "Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association", she is spot on in gathering and documenting information as they complete the "Historic Landmarks of Lake Ronkonkoma".

Helen is also a Trustee for the "Lake Ronkonkoma Cemetery".

Her 60 year collection of pictures and postcards of homes and landmarks is phenomenal.
